Full speed ahead for BIOPAMA’s grant-making facility in 2020

207 organisations from all the African, Caribbean and Pacific regions have expressed interest and submitted proposals for the 2019 Medium Grants call. Senegal, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Zambia, Namibia, Madagascar, Belize, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Kiribati and Solomon Islands are the countries that will benefit from the first round of the projects that will be financed by the BIOPAMA Action Component – Medium Grants.

The first call for proposals for Small Technical Grants was open between 16 December 2019 and 4 February 2020. The Secretariat of the BIOPAMA Action Component is currently reviewing the 162 proposals received.

Acknowledging the vast pool of valuable ideas and needs for support for activities on the ground, the BIOPAMA Action Component will launch a new call for proposal for Medium Grants in 2020. The 2020 call for proposals for Medium Grants will be open to any eligible organisation, regardless of whether they applied or not for a medium grant during the 2019 call.

The BIOPAMA Action Component is a 21 million Euro grant-making facility managed by IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) in the frame of the BIOPAMA (Biodiversity and Protected Areas Management) Programme. BIOPAMA is an initiative of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States financed by the European Union’s 11th European Development Fund.
