Leaders Discuss BIOPAMA at Post Rio+20 Consultative Meeting

5 May 2013

BIOPAMA was showcased as a contributor to the management of natural resources in ACP Member States at a recent meeting organized by the ACP (African, Caribbean and the Pacific) Secretariat in Brussels. The priorities of the ACP Group with regards to environmental and sustainable management of natural resources were debated during the April 2013 meeting.

The implementation of the outcomes of Rio+20 and achieving the Millennium Development Goals by 2015 were the central topics of the gathering that brought together representatives from the ACP regions, ACP Embassies and Missions based in Brussels, the EU and ACP regional organizations and partners. In addition to BIOPAMA, Connie Martinez of the IUCN Global Policy Unit also presented IUCN’s perspective on the Rio+20 process.

The outcomes of the consultation will create the basis of an ad-hoc working group of the ACP Committee of Ambassadors and will be addressed in future EU-ACP discussions through a post Rio+20 framework.
