Alien and invasive species represent a great threat for ecological and economic well-being of the planet. The IUCN Species Survival Commission Invasive Species Specialist Group teamed up with BIOPAMA to identify and map these species in high biodiversity value sites in the Eastern and Southern African region. This information will be available to users and decision makers through the Observatories for Biodiversity and Protected Areas Management.

The IUCN SSC Invasive Species Specialist Group – within the framework of BIOPAMA – is currently working on a project focus on identifying and building baselines of the presence of alien and invasive alien species on sites of high biodiversity value (World Heritage sites, Ramsar wetlands of International significance, National Parks etc) and their impacts on native species and ecosystems.

In this context, the IUCN SSC Invasive Species Specialist Group invite protected area managers, practitioners, experts and researchers share their knowledge related to biological invasions by filling in this brief questionnaire.

All the data and information collated will be freely available and accessible for use in the African Regional Observatories for Biodiversity and Protected Areas Management.
